So I guess this is where I'm going to be a little inflammatory. While some of the list is nice, it's kind of...fucked up? What's the point of including "The Complete Works of Shakespeare" and then later "Hamlet"? Why so many repeat authors? I mean Jane Austen was a great author, but by including that many of her works it kind of hurts the list in my opinion by diluting choice and different types that could've been there. If we're including classic authors, why isn't Mark Twain represented here? If we're including the beatniks like Jack Kerouc, where's William Boroughs and Naked Lunch, or even further than that generation, where's Hunter S. Thompson? If we're talking more modern, why isn't Stephen King or Terry Pratchett represented? I mean if we're including Douglas Adams, then we've set that satire and tongue in cheek is allowed as a viable contender on this list, and even though I haven't read much Pratchett I'd generally put him above Adams as a storyteller, although I admit that's personal preference. Why isn't George R. R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" series not included?
Why the fuck is The Da Vinci Code included here?
I mean what's the criteria for being on this list? Is it meant to be high literature? Because some of these wouldn't count for that. Classics? Because that's debatable since some of the most recent still haven't been definitively tested as to what's going to be continued to be talked about in two, three decades literature wise.
It's an interesting list to think on but I dunno. It kinda bugs me.

I don't think it's the sparkling gem of satire a lot of people believe it to have been of its generation, but I did enjoy when I read through it. I think it's entertaining, at the very least, though I wouldn't say it's one of my favorite books.
