So I guess this is where I'm going to be a little inflammatory. While some of the list is nice, it's kind of...fucked up? What's the point of including "The Complete Works of Shakespeare" and then later "Hamlet"? Why so many repeat authors? I mean Jane Austen was a great author, but by including that many of her works it kind of hurts the list in my opinion by diluting choice and different types that could've been there. If we're including classic authors, why isn't Mark Twain represented here? If we're including the beatniks like Jack Kerouc, where's William Boroughs and Naked Lunch, or even further than that generation, where's Hunter S. Thompson? If we're talking more modern, why isn't Stephen King or Terry Pratchett represented? I mean if we're including Douglas Adams, then we've set that satire and tongue in cheek is allowed as a viable contender on this list, and even though I haven't read much Pratchett I'd generally put him above Adams as a storyteller, although I admit that's personal preference. Why isn't George R. R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" series not included?

Why the fuck is The Da Vinci Code included here?

I mean what's the criteria for being on this list? Is it meant to be high literature? Because some of these wouldn't count for that. Classics? Because that's debatable since some of the most recent still haven't been definitively tested as to what's going to be continued to be talked about in two, three decades literature wise.

It's an interesting list to think on but I dunno. It kinda bugs me.

Good job I guess, taking a meme way too seriously.

Everything you said is pretty much why I haven't done the meme. It seems completely weird and arbitrary and is stupid in the case of the Shakespeare thing. Oh, but I want to ask, how is 95?

Huh. I'm pretty sure a few of those are American authors. But cool, thanks for the thoughts!

Yeah. The best answer I've gotten is that it's a mutation done by Americans to the list which has resulted in the current one. I don't fully know.

Also this is the wrong account but fuck it I don't care.
